The filing of a building permit for a speculative industrial building in Shepherdsville comes just weeks after developer Lee Wilburn told Business First that he is planning a large spec building at River Ridge Commerce Center in Jeffersonville.
Business First reported in its April 6 print edition that Wilburn’s Crossdock Development Inc. expects to begin work late this summer on a 702,000-square-foot facility at River Ridge, a 6,000-acre business park located on Ind. 62 between Jeffersonville and Charlestown.
Wilburn said in the article that the initial shell of the building, with 300,000 to 400,000 square feet, would be completed six months after construction begins.
The Class A industrial space would be marketed nationally and internationally to distribution and manufacturing firms, he said.
Wilburn’s Crossdock also is working toward developing another Bullitt County business park.
As Business First has reported, the company has agreements in place to buy as much as 650 acres there from the owners of Heritage Hill, a high-end residential and golf community in Shepherdsville.
Wilburn said in an interview this week that he won’t move forward with any spec building there until he sells or leases space he already has available at River Ridge.
Crossdock owns a 450,000- square-foot building at the Southern Indiana park that is leased to the U.S. Census Bureau.
The bureau, which had a short-term lease for the space to conduct the 2010 U.S. Census, is moving out of the site this month.
Wilburn is shopping the space to several potential users that he declined to identify.
